Sitting around the fireplace one cozy evening, a young industrious grandson asked his grandfather how he made his money.

His grandfather leaned back in his chair, puffed on his pipe and said, “It was 1932, the depth of the Great Depression and I was down to my last nickel.  I invested that nickel in an apple and spent an hour polishing that apple until it shone then I sold the apple for ten cents.”

“The next day, I invested those ten cents in two apples.  I spent two hours polishing them and sold them for 20 cents.  I continued this system for a month and by the end I’d accumulated $1.37.”

“Then your grandma’s father died and left us two million dollars.”
